"Too Cool for School" w/ Porchialean Larkin

So I think I'm finally starting to get it.. you know this whole fashion thing. I mean I've always loved to shop and put my outfits together. But as I transition to the ending of my college career into the Fashion Industry my outfits have generally become LOOKS. A look can start from a piece of clothing or an idea, and in this case it started with a red lip and a brimmed hat. Last tuesday for Business of Modeling class that's what all the girls were asked to wear. As I got dressed picking out the floral leggings with a black blouse and more casual fit blazer I thought about the spirit of the holiday. How I'm excited for Christmas and walking downtown and seeing all the snowflake, red and gold ornaments strung around the city. Although the bottom has flair and the top says business the mood says "Take me anywhere, buy me Anything, especially for Christmas".

I took this photo in class while there was a class photo shoot going on and honestly I was just fooling around until I saw how awesome it looked. A college student  in the city who would rather be anywhere but in class. The outfit can even be referred to as sass with class lol. I don't know if I'm going to far with this some might even think of the floral pattern as hideous.. but for me its all about the attitude, the swagger, and achieving

Transitioning from Summer to Fall Make Up and Fashion 2013 by. PorchialeanLarkin

So this fall has been sssooooo hectic.. filled w/ many activities, school, and fashion events in the city. Some how I have managed to keep track of a few looks from my transition from Summer to Fall 2013.

This first collage actually was just for fun. I started off with pics from my day look.. which was a slight smoke lined eye with a light conturing. To transition this look from day to night I choose a deep dark berry almost black lipstick giving me a vampy look. The products I used to achieve this look were the "New York City Smokeys" pallete from the .em by michelle phan collection. The dark lip color was provided in Fantasy Makers wet n wild "Wicked Look" cosmetic kit. Although I was really playing in the make up I think this is an awesome transition of a day to night look.

In this look I searched online to find some late 80s early 90's inspiration. Im intrigued by the thick knee socks with dr.marten shaped boots. I rarely wear dresses however the right sock are legging will have me reaching for them quickly. In this picture from an old show for kids called "Ghostwriter" I remember being a young girl and loving the stlye of the main character. So I picked a dress I bout a few years back, a sweater from h&m, some old purple payless booties, and knit thigh length socks from Urban Outfitters that are being sold in stores today. A few accessories and I made this look my own spending barely anything because most of it was already in my closet. This was my favorite fall look so far.

This collage is the most random. Inspired by style for the top row and color along the bottom at first glance might seem odd. The first thing I do when transitioning from summer to fall is layer my pieces. Layering makes it easy to combine your old looks with new clothing. So I add stockings, a white tee and heels, or a flair of color from a diy clutch and I've got three new looks. In the first look on the left the dress was actually from Forever 21 less then $20 and the stockings were less then $10. If I find something resonably priced I will add it to my collection especially if its for special occasions.Next I added nail polish colors to my collection for this season and the one I've shown here is called "Through the Grapevine" from the Wet n Wild megalast collection. I've added a little pop of color with lipsticks like Saigon Summer or Feel My Pulse by Mac to all black outfits or when wearing neons within a look. I've tried to stay away from reds because I love wearing red and I tend to wear it out so I've been painring my navy with burgundy instead. The plaid button up shirt is actually burgundy and navy with a navy shaw over it.

The Past~ The Present~ The Future** written by PorchialeanLarkin

So today I've spent most of the day relaxing and recovering from a long second week back to college for Fall 2013 semester. I don't know why but I don't feel pressure yet, however I know it will soon come with future events arriving in my life. I'm just getting adjusted to this school semester which partakes in mourning as well as evening classes plus a most important intense ballet class towards the end of the week. That I must say at this very moment I am still feeling the effects of but it is good to get my body back to my ballerina ways.~THE PRESENT PORCHIALEAN LARKIN~

No matter how much I talk about school with it literally being the existence of my very being at this moment meaning if I didn't have school I wouldnt have a life. School or College at this point is my life, is my job, and especially my way of socializing with others outside of my household (eventhough I only talk to my mom I have stopped converseing with my brother). I attend CCSF in the city and I'm working on a Fashion Merchandiseing certificate/degree. I am so elated to have an opportunity to walk away with certification of Fashion Merchandiseing when 95% of my days alone are spent browseing online and my day dreams are filled with thoughts of vintage Chanel bags and shades. My mind somehow drifts to my partying ways of the past and its been about four years since I first suffered from cancer. Although I know that waking up and attending college is a blessing I don't know why I can't forget about those days. Just going through most of these experiences alone with only my mom by my side, the Cancer Society along with The S.F. Lukemia and Lymphoma society a phone call away........ I can't help but wonder were all those people I met, hands I shook, guys I loved and friendships I made were all FAKE. When I think about the past, it pains me so much I often block those days out of my mind. I remember praying for my tears to go away and control over my emotions. Now I can think about things that's happen to me in the past and my eyes swell up with tears but they never roll out of my tear ducks along my cheeks and down my face. Somehow that makes me feel stronger. But when I think about the bad things happening to me in the present I cannot hold the emotions back it is then that my anger and tears over power and I have to let it out. Being cancer free now I often wonder if my past before cancer lead me to this very moment.. whether I like to admit it the moment can be quite lonely sometimes, but to be alone is sometimes all I need. ~THE PAST PORCHIALEAN LARKIN~

I have discovered something very beautiful and its called faith. I sometimes think about the future but I very rarely worry about what is the next step for me my life simply because I have learned to trust God. I feel God has brought me thus far, fighting my battles when I am too weak, and showing me that things can change for the better. So with that I am able to walk out of the door not always having a friend to talk too and not a shoulder to cry on and experiencing unspeakable things yet being able to walk with my head held high. You see... when it comes to my faith I now have the ability to worry less on the outcome and focus more on shaping my future. Where is my future heading I often wonder? Will I end up doing reality TV.. well I kinda am already I've started my very own Youtube channel. Will I end up traveling with a group of eccentric fashionistas rocking Jimmy Choos and leather participating in endless fashion shows? who knows the skies the limit. Or might I even have the pleasure of maintaining a steady income growing within a company or a lady exceling from a sales associate to a big wig with an office downtown? It doesn't matter at this point what I dream.. what matters is that I have a future. It doesn't matter what I end up doing....it matters that i'm doing. It doesn't matter where I'm goin as long as I'm going. Honestly my only worry most days is what I will wear! ~THE FUTURE PORCHIALEAN LARKIN

Summer2013 Porchialean Larkin

When I reflect upon my Summer 2013, I think about loungeing, spending most days being extremely

exhausted(not to be confused with being lazy), and spending a whole lot of time watching reality t.v.

You might be reading this and wondering, wait its a while before the last day of summer. But for me

personally the first day of fall semester in college is always my last day of summer. I had so many hopes and

dreams of traveling this summer and getting a part time job, but when I finally got on my toes I realized that a

little vacation on the couch was exactly what I needed. I'll never be the women I need to be if I'm not well

rested. So this summer I attented a few events that were important and other days I kicked my feet up.

Below are a few pics for you to enjoy as I share my Summer Fashions, Meals, and events I attended. Enjoy! ~PorchialeanLarkin

My Birthday Tea and Champagne Celebration with my mom at The Palace Hotel tearoom.

Eating my favorite meal at the NEW Friday's at the Peir. I usually get the sampler because I love the variety and I tried their NEW Peach Sangria drink which was amazing.

Spent the 4th of July taking a cable car ride, having a lovely seafood dinner along Peir 39 watching the           fireworks!

Spending 2013 Kickoff for Light the Night as a baseball theme, Giants vs. Cubs, and decideing to pledge $300 that I'm raising by savein all my change and I'm challenging my mom to save hers. So everytime I spend anything say I get $3.75 back, I put it all into a lil backpack looking piggybank. I'm waiting patiently to open it and see how much I'll be donating.

My birthday look.. It was a sheer floor length front button down dress from Forever 21
priced at less then $25.

Nails and Makeup LOOKs!

Purple is one of my ultimate fav nails colors, this look features multipal designs like a striped glitter nail, solid purple nail, and a freehand style with beige as the base, purple as the design color and glitter as a top coat.

Neon colors along with pink pastels were my signature this Summer 2013. I had so much fun painting each        nail a different color. It also helped me to notice which colors really looked awesome with my skin tone.

This is a look for a Summer Night out. The main pallette I used was the East LA pallette from Forever 21. (Less then $10) Although I am get better at applying the makeup looks I don't have the proper brushes to blend and be more precise with the color applications, so I am looking around for brush sets. If you have any recommendations please leave a comment below.

Last but not least

Food I've been Cooking!

So I've been enjoying going out to eat these past couple of months but I've also been brushing up on my cooking skills.

If you know me you know that I LOVE SEAFOOD.
I don't eat red meat so I depend on seafood most of the time for meals.
Every once and a while when on sale my mom will pick me up fresh crab and lately shes been making me cook it myself. So I boil it and then sautee it to soften the shell and i always over use butter but i'm still learning.

When I make tacos I use Turkey meat instead of beef and I do use store bought seasoning                                       but I like to add lemon to the seasoning just to add a different flavor.

Now if you know me.. you know that I love fried shrimps with white rice and thats my favorite meal.
I also like RedHot which is Lousiana hot sauce its my ultimate favorite hot sauce on this earth.
If you have any recommendations on recipes or food I should try

SO all in all my summer was very quiet yet exciting and I am pleased to have accomplished a few goals.
I wonder what Fall and Winter has in store for me this 2013.. be sure to tune in and keep checking my blog to find out. ~PorchialeanLarkin
